LANE CRAWFORD

RETAIL AS EXPERIENCE

RETAIL · CONTENT · CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

THE PROJECT

My relationship with Lane Crawford began with five years working within the Hong Kong business and has continued through an ongoing creative relationship spanning beauty, seasonal campaigns and commercial content.

Lane Crawford has always approached retail as something broader than shopping: a curated world where fashion, beauty, design, art, culture, content and experience come together.

Working across both the physical and digital expression of that world has shaped much of my thinking about modern retail - and the role editorial storytelling can play in turning a retailer into a destination.

MY ROLE

My work sits at the intersection of editorial, creative and commercial storytelling.

From developing and commissioning content around fashion, beauty, designers and culture during my in-house role, to ongoing freelance projects aligned with Lane Crawford's seasonal campaigns, I help translate creative and commercial ideas into content that engages the customer.

More recent work includes the immersive ALL IN beauty project, alongside biannual SALE projects and creative content developed in step with the brand's seasonal campaigns.

The common thread is an editorial approach to retail: understanding the commercial objective, identifying the story within it and finding ways to make that story relevant and engaging to the customer.

RETAIL AS EXPERIENCE

Lane Crawford was an early influence on the way I think about physical retail: the most compelling retailers don't simply sell products - they curate a world people want to enter.

Product exists alongside storytelling, creative collaboration, events, art and design, service and constantly evolving physical environments. The result is somewhere customers can discover what's new, encounter ideas and spend time — rather than simply transact.

That philosophy feels increasingly relevant when almost anything can be bought online.

For destination retail, the opportunity is different: to give people a reason to come, stay, discover, participate - and return.

APPROACH

Editorial curation — Finding the people, products, ideas and stories that give a retail brand cultural relevance.

Campaign storytelling — Translating seasonal and commercial priorities into creative content with a distinctive editorial point of view.

Immersive content — Developing storytelling around projects such as ALL IN, where product, content and experience work together.

Customer experience — Considering content, environment, service and experience as interconnected expressions of the brand.
